This book tells a new story of our cultural origins. It shows that war and the '"war of the sexes'" are neither divinely nor biologically ordained. This book provides verification that a better future is possible and is in fact firmly rooted in a haunting drama of what actually happened in our past. By the second century A.D. Roman and Greeks had burned all the books written by and about women. The spiritual uniqueness of women had been obliterated in all existing dogmas, all the way to home life. Eisler proves that our history was a more gentle time which respected women for their rightful place in the heavens. Our world has opted for androgyny (or sexlessness) as the answer to sexist prejudice because they have forgotten the power of and the creation role that women uniquely played in the creation of the universe. Men will never substitute for or circumvent that place in the eternities.
