The study of the stars was taught by the ancient fraternity of the Magi. They were the ones who knew of the coming of the birth of the Messiah Jesus and visited him in Bethlehem. This ancient study of the stars was used to navigate the oceans and travel over large expanses of land. It was also used by the prophets as an ancient calendar to identify dates and epochs of time in prophecy. Astrology has devolved into a sideshow in our day, but the roots of astrology tell us more than mere dates and times. The study of the stars also taught the nature of the epochs of time.
