At the time of Ezra and Nehemiah in the Old Testament there were many other significant events taking place in other parts of the world. One of the surprising ones is the fact that the Jews had built a new temple on an island in the Nile River right on the border of Egypt and Nubia. This temple was a replica of the one in Jerusalem.
